The sights we saw.

Andy was a warrior and drove most of the way, but on a few occasions, I found myself at the wheel of his Isuzu Trooper SUV. One of our most pleasant driving moments was when we drove along Lake Champlain. The lake mirrored the cloudless skies and everything felt so blue and calm.

The second winery, Snow Farm, was located on a small island in Lake Champlain. It was a fairly small stand-alone house with no farm or any hint of equipment. The wines were actually made off-site and this was where they sold and gave wine tastings. The place was cute, but too much like a gift shop. We were already missing Boyden Valley.

I had found a website of a small restaurant called Cafe Shelburne before going on this trip, and I marked it as a "must" for our trip. The restuarant reminded me a lot of Metuchen Inn - the house turned into restaurant serving expensive French food feeling. We had incredible escargot, lamb, quail, pate, and a fine bottle of Bordeaux.

We stayed overnight at the Days Inn in Shelburne. It was a very luxurious place unlike may of the Days Inns we had tried in other states. Our room was huge (2 queens), we had Wi-Fi, and continential breakfast was offered as well. All for only $129! We stayed up at night and watched Sideways on my laptop.

On our way out, we stopped by Dakin Farms, a Vermont food products store just a few minutes away from Days Inn. The best thing about Dakin Farms was that you could walk around an sample all their products. We got full trying everything out, but still bought the three things we desired - spicy sausage, sharp cheddar, and strawberry-rhubarb jam. Incredible food for the road.
