As much as I like to label myself a "writer," I often find that I have neither the skills nor body of work to show such distinction. I've always found writing to be an intense and intimidating exercise, much like running a 400-meter race - you know that practice and persistence will make you better at the 400, but you also know that running it will leave you feeling exhausted and nauseous. I don't regret the few intense moments of writing that I've put myself through, but I do find myself hesitating or giving up when I try my hand at a short story or a screenplay. This is a collection (if you can call it that) of the rare moments during which I felt like a writer.

The Elusive Hope
A 10-part story I wrote on my blog in 2005 about failure, loss, and escape.

Listless Flight
This short story was written for my Structure & Style class in the spring semester of 2005.

Golden Nuggets
This poem, also written for my S&S class in spring 2005 was inspired by my elementary school lunchtime experiences.

Shall We Aspire to Such Happiness?
Another poem from my S&S class in spring 2005, it reflects on the life of well-to-do yuppies who've recently moved to their new home on the Upper West Side.

Seven Hundred Thirty Letters
I wrote this short story while living at Columbia during the summer after my junior year (2004). It was first posted on my pkblog, but I've included it on here to rescue it (hopefully) from eternal obscurity.

Reading Club Superstars
I wrote this screenplay for my Lab in Screenwriting class during the spring semester of 2004. I remember my public library used to hold contests to see who could read the most pages each month. I was too slow of a reader and could never compete with the smarter kids who seemed to read a new book every two days.

Good Guys Always Win
This incomplete novella, begun in 2002, is about a group of Asian American high school boys who cheat their way to success. Loosely based on my experience at John P. Stevens High School.
